One of the most terrifying parts of communication is the "cold open" which is starting a conversation with someone you dont know at all.  Unfortunately, this is the most effective ways to connect with people and increase your social and professional value.  It is a proven fact that the more social connections you have the higher your pay is and of course the more opportunities one has for advancement. 

I have worked with a number of talented professionals who at first were not able to start a conversation with someone sitting right next to them.  They all had a sense of absolute terror when tasked with simply asking a question, let alone starting a conversation.  These individuals literally shut down.  They even proclaimed, "I am not capable of doing that. It´s not me."

I understand this fear and have felt that same terror.  I still do (at times). 

I know both sides to this challenge!  I have felt the shame and self-hate of not having the ability to open and connect with people right in front of me.  I have also felt how amazing it feels when I open and connect with people I find interesting or have a sense of attraction with (personally and professionally).

I have studied, practiied, researched, improved, presented and coached others to open, connect and empower people to become the person they wanted to become.  Charismatic, Social and Connected. 

I received a text message at 12:30 am from a client.

"I am at a party.  OMG this shit works. Thank you."

This coming from a guy who 4 weeks earlier couldnt ask the people sitting next to him What time is it?
